Tips and Motivations from At the Barre.....
"Plie is the first thing you learn and the last thing you master." -Suzanne Farrell
Plie is the foundation of most movement in classical ballet. It seems everything either starts or ends with a plie.
Plie is the foundation of most movement in classical ballet. It seems everything either starts or ends with a plie.
Respect the Technique: Learn to be detailed and focused on the fine tuned details of classical ballet technique. Contorting lines and mixing styles is wonderful for other forms of dance... but the foundation of ballet should be a solid technical base. Even if you end up using the other forms of dance more- always appreciate and study the classical lines...... Ballet Foundation
Something to think about as you begin another day At the Barre....
Every movement you make in class counts. Building a good technical and artistic foundation takes time and repetition. Doing something correct once is a start, but it must be done dozens of times correctly before it becomes part of who you are when you move. Engage your brain as you dance to be actively thinking corrections and applying aspects of proper alignment and form. The potential is unlocked when you get active in your training.....Ballet Foundation
