Just a little about us...
Mansfield Conservatory West is dedicated to the success of each of it's students... one step at a time. As The Founder and Artistic Director of the Conservatory, I have continually, since 1972, worked to afford all of the dancers who have trained with me the opportunity to explore all disciplines of dance,to find and progress in the one that excites them and to experience the joy of dance through hard work and accomplishments. The classes are intentionally limited to a small number of students so that each can benefit from the individual,"one-on-one" attention necessary for the development of Ballet Technique, the foundation of all Dance. This building block insures a strong, sound dancer as they progress and explore more challenging movement and provides the knowledge of body placement, turn out and the tools to protect the body from injury. Although we provide performance opportunities, we do not ask our students or parents to participate in a costly, yearly "dance recital". The goal for the Conservatory is to provide quality class training, uninterrupted by preparing for a dance or annual recital.
The Conservatory moved into it's completely renovated facility on June 6, 2011. We are located at 319 West Main Street in Carnegie. The school has a comfortable sitting area for parents. Classes can be viewed by visitors through the french doors which lead into our studio. Hardwood flooring, wall to wall mirrors, custom made barres, a students dressing room and lounge and 2 new bathrooms complete the facility. The Conservatory has it's own costume shop from which all productions are dressed.
We are very proud of the accomplishments that all of our students make every day in class. Throughout our 14 Seasons many of our dancers have auditioned for and have been accepted into Summer Dance Intensives away from the Conservatory including Chautauqua, Boston Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater and American Ballet Theater. 2 of our dancers were invited into and graduated from the full time Pre Professional Division at Pittsburgh Ballet Theater with 1 continuing into the Graduate Program. Our Private Training students have entered and competed in the Youth America Grand Prix and have finished in the top 12 finalists. And we are thrilled that most of our graduating seniors continue to dance with us when they are back home and via Zoom for weekly classes.
